The
meeting will be held on

at the
Guilderland Public Library,
2228 Western Ave, Guilderland,
at 6:30PM.
With more and more people receiving home-based medical treatments involving intravenous therapies such as PICC lines, knowledge about self-care in the administration of antibiotics or other drugs is becoming very important. One of the more common therapies for Lyme patients, in particular, involves the use of PICC lines to administer antibiotics. PICC lines and other IV therapies involve the placement of a slender, small, flexible tube inserted into a vein, often in the upper arm, for the purpose of administering medications. Intravenous therapies are used for many ailments, not just for Lyme Disease, and anyone interested in more information about the care and maintenance of the intravenous lines for themselves or their family members or friends is welcome to attend.
The guest speaker will be Laurie Sweeney-Conlon, RN. A specialist in infusion therapies, Ms. Sweeny-Conlon works full time in the field of home IV infusion and patient education. She has a broad base of knowledge and experience with a diverse group of medical specialties and therapies including IV antibiotics.
Ms. Sweeny-Conlon's focus for the evening will be in providing basic education to patients and their families on proper maintenance of their lines and on how to safely administer their therapies. She will also review the different ways IV antibiotics can be administered and go over potential complications and interventions.
All are welcome. The session is free.
